Adding a Video

Embedded Video

Adding an embedded video is done in 2 steps

Step 1 - Adding video to Blip.tv

We use www.blip.tv for our video distribution because it allows us to distribute our video in multiple formats and because it has better video display bandwidth capabilities.

  1. Login to www.blip.tv using the username/password supplied to you.
  2. Click on the upload link at the top of the page
  3. Fill in Title and Description and choose the file to upload
  4. Choose "Creative Commons Attribution 2.0" under license
  5. Click upload

Once the file is uploaded and converted to .flv format, click on the Dashboard and choose the video you just uploaded - the URL that you see is what you will use in the "Embedded Video" field when creating a video for the Church website.

Step 2 - Adding the Video to Heritage-cc.org

Now that the video is on the blip.tv server, it's real easy to "embed" it into the Heritage site.

  1. Under Staff Resources --> Create Content - choose Video
  2. Give it a Title and use the URL above to add to the Embedded Video field.
  3. If this is a Special Event, choose yes.
  4. Optionally - add text to the body field.
  5. Click Save.

 Local MP4 Video

Adding a local video (one that you upload to the Heritage Webserver) is similar to adding an embedded video but we skip the blip.tv portion.

  1. Under Staff Resources --> Create Content - choose Video
  2. Give it a Title and skip over the embedded file and go to the "Local MP4 Video" - choose file and upload. (Wait for it to upload)
  3. Choose no for "Is This a Special Event"
  4. Optionally - add text to the body field
  5. Click Save

 Done!
